Go time. Go weather. Go places.
Ask anyone at Courtyard what their favorite part of the new lobby is and chances are you’ll hear about the GoBoard™. It’s more than just a pretty screen, it’s state-of-the-art, touch-screen technology right here in the center of what’s happening.
It’s designed to put all the information you’re looking for right at your fingertips, including time, weather, local headlines and events, sports, and restaurant recommendations. What’s more, it has mapping capabilities — so you can get directions from the hotel to the location of your choice. Without having to stop and ask.

I would like to see Marriott transform the Courtyards into the Hyatt Place level of comfort and technology. I would like the focus to be in room improvment rather then lobby. After all we all spend more time in our rooms then in a lobby. I am a loyal Marriott client however the Hyatt Place properties are making me consider a change.
My two cents
Wow – can’t wait to stay at a Courtyard with a new lobby and the Go Board!
sounds great!! just wondering…heading to Atlanta in April to the Waverly; do regular Marriot’s have the GoBoard, too?
very loyal to the Marriot…thanks for the great job with improvements, etc.
Jim,
Thanks so much for your comment. I’m glad you like the GoBoard. It was actually specifically designed for our Courtyard brand to meet the needs of Courtyard guests. Thanks for your loyalty to Marriott! Come back and see us soon!
Thanks,
Brian
Wow, the GoBoard is really neat. Especially the mapping feature. I find Microsoft’s Virtual Earth maps to be pretty neat, and it’s cool to see Marriott utilize that platform.
I don’t know if it’s possible, but it would be nice to sync points of interest or other places on the map over to your mobile phone. That way getting directions to these places would be fast.
And the whole lobby looks nice and comfortable as well. Great job.

Hi Deborah,
Thanks so much for your comment. Currently, the GoBoard does not have printing capabilities, but we are in the process of developing the technology to allow it to do so. I’ll be sure to blog about that at some point soon!
Thanks, Brian

I have seen the quality of your hotel but I cannot find your prices. Please share with me your prices of the different hotels.
Thank you,
Steven Jenner
Hi Mr. Jenner,
Thank you so much for reading my blog and leaving a comment. The prices vary from hotel to hotel and they also vary based on the dates and length of time you are staying. You can look up the prices at any of our Courtyard hotels at http://www.courtyard.com.

I recently stayed at the Baltimore Airport Courtyard – this is by far the most convenient and functional lobby ever. My entire team was impressed! Everything about it, the GoBoard, the individual tv’s at each seating area, the convenient food/beverage, was well thought out. Every hotel should put this much consideration into the design of the lobby area….
And, btw, you can print from your room to a printer in the lobby, use lobby kiosks to check-in for your flight, etc…
The Go Board is cool but, is it practical? Only one person can use it at a time and I am not sure I want it displayed to everyone to know where I am going to dinner. Would suggest they look at a smaller screens for privacy purposes.
I am very excited about your new Courtyard!!
Very usefull post, i think i will use it.
Thanks.
Hi all!
As newly registered user i just want to say hi to everyone else who uses this forum
I agree, if you could print out directions or restaurant menus that would IDEAL…..
Is the Go Board available for companies to purchase?
Good idea, poor delivery. I think for 50K, Marriott could do a lot better. Sheraton is trying something like this now, and it is turning out to be more of a novelty than a functional guest interface. There is the ‘kid’ factor as well, and others that just play around with the maps, etc., creating an e-traffic jam for other guests wanting to partake. Just my take.
Go Board is less functional than I was hoping. It is mostly just a big banner of information instead of an interactive approach to finding directions and local attractions. There are free services that are similar in display are far more informative with directions and less unconventional than the Go board. What a rip for the poor franchisee’s that pay big money to put these in
Kind of…eh. So-so.
Hi J.W.,
The GoBoard was created specifically for Courtyard by Marriott hotels and is patented. Thanks so much for your comment and I hope you’ll enjoy using the GoBoard in our hotels!

Hey there – this is Bill Yackey, and I am editor of the news website Digital Signage Today. (www.digitalsignagetoday.com) I wanted to put together a story about the Go-board for next Monday. Is there a representative from Marriott there that I could interview briefly this week?

A few comments: I like what you’re doing with the lobby, it looks cool. However, if you’re really intending to reach young professionals, you’ve got to do something about the load time of the website. I would bet just about anything I own that you lose about 50% of your traffic to people who aren’t willing to wait 2 minutes for the website to load (and I’m an extremely fast network).
Also, as others have said, I still think more focus should be paid what’s in the room. I just stayed in a Courtyard Marriot in Hyannis, Cape Code, and the pillows and beds were pretty miserable…
To add a positive note, the lobby was beautiful, had Internet access, and an ice cream freezer with some of the best ice cream sandwiches I’ve ever had! Keep up the good work – you could really use a community to do more research. Check out http://www.communispace.com or email me for more information.
I would love to see some of the 200 HDVT’s (high definition virtual tours) on your new Courtyard’s in San Diego:

However, I have been taking my clients to lunch at your Spectrum Center location and was a little disappointed at the results of the Go Board.
It is a great start though! Would like to see all 20,000 of our HDVT’s on the Go Board’s: http://360cities.net
